Fixed Prosthesis and Crowns

Fixed Prosthesis and Crowns

Fixed Prosthetics is the area of Dentistry responsible for the partial or total restoration of a tooth crown, using a prosthesis that is placed over the previously prepared natural tooth and/or dental implants, and cannot be removed by the patient. It can also be used to replace one or more broken or severely damaged teeth. Fixed prosthetics can be crowns or bridges and aim to reproduce the natural dentition as much as possible, and can also be used to improve dental occlusion (bite).
Fixed prosthetics are the ideal solution in cases where only a few teeth are missing, not only for comfort but also for aesthetics.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are individualized fixed prostheses that completely cover the tooth, with the aim of providing aesthetics and resistance to partially or totally destroyed teeth. Crowns may also be indicated in cases where it is necessary to improve the aesthetics, shape or alignment of the teeth in the dental arch, or in cases of devitalized, fractured teeth or those with large restorations.

Dental Bridges

When there are small toothless spaces and teeth that could serve as good abutments, there may be a good indication for planning and executing a bridge.

Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth, supported by neighboring teeth that are prepared in the same way as for placing crowns.

Bridges are cemented permanently and function like natural teeth.

Materials

Crowns or bridges behave like natural teeth, so their hygiene and maintenance require the same care from the patient as they would with their natural teeth.
There are several types of materials available on the market for making dental crowns and bridges, ranging from metal, zirconia, ceramics, among others.

At Beclinique, we have an advanced dental laboratory where our prosthetics technicians work in great detail on the anatomical features of each crown, achieving the most natural result possible.
