Aligned teeth
Orthodontic problems can range from major dental misalignment to malocclusions (poor relationship between the upper and lower jaws), which can be caused by incorrect dental positions. To treat these problems, we often use fixed braces, removable braces, expanders and extra-oral devices.
The need for orthodontics may be due to several factors, the highlights being:
- Hereditary factors;
- Continued habits (digital sucking and continuous pacifier use);
- Early loss of baby teeth, among other factors.

The use of braces is not exclusively intended for children, and is increasingly recommended for adults, as it facilitates the performance of more complex rehabilitation treatments (rehabilitation with implants and prostheses), enabling the achievement of greater aesthetics, better function and greater longevity of the treatment.
No age limit
The duration of orthodontic treatments can vary depending on several factors and can take months or years, but on average they last between 1.5 – 2 years.
There is no age limit for visiting the Orthodontist, but the first appointment should be made as early as possible, in childhood and pre-adolescence, when the greatest peaks of bone growth occur, where the desired results are more easily achieved.
